Anonymous asked: If there was no negative feedback or people saying they dont like results then it wouldnt get any better. This is a very public place, the internet is for all to see. If you put something up for everyone in the world to have access to, yes you will be judged whether good or bad, and yes people will give feedback or state how it looks. You cant be offended by it. Its a take or leave, and you have the choice to leave and ignore it. You do have control of your results, you CHOOSE your surgeon.

I wasn’t going to reply to this because it just sounds quite ridiculous and really uneducated - but it seems like you could do with some mind-opening so I’ll give you some information anyway.

1. In the UK there is one team that does lower surgery for trans men, so if you can’t afford it to go abroad or privately, you can’t choose your surgeon.

2. Complications can arise regardless of how skilled or experienced your surgeon is. That’s a part of surgery that you have to accept but that does mean the person going through surgery deserves to be mocked or shamed for how they look after.

3. Body shaming is gross anyway and if you think it’s acceptable then that’s your problem, not the people whose results you don’t like.

4. There’s a difference between constructive criticism going to the surgeon for them to improve, and being rude to people going through life-changing and sometimes terrifying surgeries because they feel like there are no other options. for them.

If you’re going to sit here and tell someone that their genitals look disgusting or ugly and try to convince yourself that you’re “helping” surgery results improve, you’re kidding yourself.

Anonymous asked: can you share wot the toughest things about recovery from yr surgery were? thank you

Probably how alone I felt in the weeks after. All I wanted was someone to come over and stroke my hair at all times - thankfully my friend lived nearby and she did that for me but being alone after that sucked. Also the unknown of whether or not I was healing properly was difficult. All turned out okay though :)

Anonymous asked: Thanks for your last response re: seeing Mr C. What is your experience of a catheter? I heard it’s very uncomfortable. Can you get spasms? Can you take anything to prevent or stop discomfort?

I got mine taken out the day after surgery which was a surprise. I didn’t feel a thing while it was in and I didn’t really feel anything when they took it out, tbh I wanted to keep it in so I could continue being lazy in bed and not have to get up to pee! I’m not sure what you can take actually, just stay as still as possible maybe? and rely on your meds + sleep it off :)

Anonymous asked: I am going to see Mr Christopher to talk about Meta! Are there specific pointers you can offer about what I could ask him or check with him?

Ooooh good luck! Hmm.. I’d ask to see photographs, ask about the mons resection, recovery times, aftercare, ermmm andd maybe about the catheter? Hope it goes well!

Anonymous asked: Hiya! How will I know if I will be able to use a urinal in terms of length - can everyone who has this do so? Seems like if I can’t, I might as well not have surgery..

well I suppose the ability to use a urinal depends on your aim? Cis men with micro penises have to aim in the same way cis men with 9″ penises do. Granted it’ll be easier for some than others, it’s still a case of aiming. Loads of guys unzip fully to use the urinal because it’s easier, I may have to take my trousers down to me knees to aim properly but i’ll still be able to stand probably. It depends on every individual :)

Anonymous asked: Can I please ask how you’ve managed after yr surgery - like what it’s like to be in between stages? do you know when you’re gonna have your next stage?

It’s frustrating but I’m keeping myself busy and hoping for the best. Next stage I’m assuming will be next summer.. possibly earlier but yeah I’ve got summer as a feeling.

Anonymous asked: hi, how long were u in hospital for your first stage & did u get any aftercare from the surgeon and/or your GP??

I was in hospital for 3-4 days, and I didn’t have any aftercare from anyone as I lived a 6hr drive away. I had a check up 10 days later where I was given some redressing on my incisions :)

Anonymous asked: Can I please ask if you had to have a catheter during your surgery & for how long and what it felt like because I’m worried if it will be too uncomfortable and painful.

I had a catheter in for a day or two. I didn’t feel anything (I was expecting to have it in for at least 10 and for it to be super uncomfortable!) and I kinda loved it because it meant not having to get out of bed for a whole day. I kind of missed it once it was gone! Some people have said it’s wildly uncomfortable though D:

Anonymous asked: Your site is so important to me as I think about lower surgery! Thanks for sharing. Are there any questions you wish you’d asked the surgeon before Stage 1?

No problem :) Sorry I’ve not been so active recently.

Not that I can think of? I just asked how long the recovery process would be. Maybe asking about recovery and what support you get is a good one - that seems to be where a lot of people panic.

Anonymous asked: what stage are you at with your metoidioplasty surgery? i’ve seen a few photos on transbucket, is there anywhere else i could see other people’s results?

Just post stage 1. Have a look on here, there are quite a few blogs in the metoidioplasty tag :)
